I believe this is a great program for students and parents. It gives parents the sense of security to know, they have people/staff who are here to help them academically and with important information regarding programs that are available to the student and the parent as well.

I & R Process

Identification & Recruitment

  • September /October - Target all new students coming into the District.
  • January / February - Target all new students coming into the District.
  • October - Lettuce pickers request Daniel from the FCOE to help for two weeks.
  • November - Cotton season recruitment and occasionally out in the community.
  • December - Disking cotton fields, general recruitment.
  • February - Occasionally recruiting, Plan for Mini-Conference.
  • May / June -Recruit families that come into town to harvest the crops; of the tomatoes, cantaloupe, onions, and the garlic season.
  • July / August - Go out to the community. Set up tables at once of the busiest grocery stores. Visit motels, Apt. complex and try to contact families coming for the lettuce season.


Assessment Tools

All the data is retrieved from Aieries, and information is also available on CHUSD Webpage. A letter was mailed out with information to the parents on how to retrieve test information it was also posted on our local station channel 4 and the Coalinga Record.

Migrant Parents Advisory Committee meets once a month the first Tuesday of the month.

Health Support Services & Health Clinics

Linda Balling is CHUSD Migrant Nurse she schedules the yearly Health Clinics. They take place at the Keenan center in Huron and Keck Park in Coalinga. Referrals are done by the community aide and then given to the District Nurse.
