I & R Process
Identification & Recruitment
Identification and recruitment is a collaborative effort between the school registrar and migrant liaison to ensure migrant students are identified and recruited. Strategies implemented at Orange Center involve bi- weekly monitoring of new enrollments, visiting homes where previous migrant families resided, recruitment during adult educational courses, and two community based recruitments on and off campus.

Assessment Tools
After 30 days of instruction students are assessed to establish their academic area of most need. Teachers observe students performance in reading, language arts, and mathematics to help coordinate a supplemental academic plan for all migrant students. Other data used to assess a student's performance includes CST, CELDT, STAR, Accelerated Reader, and Silvaroli Reading Inventory.

Migrant families have limited access to certain health services or are not aware of services available to them. To ensure Orange Center's Migrant families receive the proper medical or health services it is important that during the identification and recruitment process families are assessed of their health needs. This will allow migrant nurses and aides to better screen and direct migrant students to proper medical attention. Services include vision, dental, and referrals to other specialty medical services. Transportation is also provided in the event none is available to the families. Orange Center's Migrant health team is Michael A. Muller Ed. D., Health Coordinator; Kathi Rindahl, Migrant Nurse; and Alice Jacinto, Migrant Health Aide.
